was looking through some on my SP's at weekend and thinking the smaller ones (hart absolut worm 4") would/might fish very well on an 8 weight rod with 1/0 hook.....anyone any ideas if this would work???

The real trick is to cast clouser minnows with a light lure rod......!

I can't think of a single salmon fly pattern which represents an actual fly. Even the March Brown which was one of my most reliable salmon flies when I was in my teens was invariably at least twenty times bigger than the real thing .
The term 'fly' is a fairly loose one. No matter what it is - or looks like, if you can cast it with a fly rod you are 'fly' fishing.
Purists and fundamentalists are just put on this Earth to make life as awkward as possible for the rest of us.

Smaller unweighted SP's should be ok, but try fish them with an 8 weight or heavier to help the casting.
