How early do you start after bass?

Postby steve101 » Sat Mar 12, 2011 5:07 pm

I've been out a few times already this year for shortish sessions on the fly without any luck - am I wasting my time or is fly fishing this early a viable approach?

Steve, we have been picking them up on bait thru the winter. They are there. May be using a small soft plastic on a dead sticking approach or an extremely slow retrieve might work. Having said that the earliest I've caught them or seen them being caught in these parts is April, but we do try from Paddy's W/e on.

Oh btw, seeing that this is a SWFF forum, I should be suggesting using that sp as the 'fly.'
