It all sounds good there Roger. Make sure the dropper isn't too far away from the point fly, maybe 30cm max. Also this is just a personal preference but i like to fish longer leaders, maybe 9ft or so.

I find that for coalies, a retrieve consisting of short, sharp pulls works best.

Good luck.

chears alex ,the short sharp pull sounds the biz ,when i,m using mini feathers for them the quicker and jerkier the retreave the better, they like something fastmoving to grab  what colour fly,s have you had em on ?was going to try pink (shrimpy)and white(baitfish)

Pink flys!!!! be careful or you will turn into eric

if it was me, i would use a blue and white sprat/sandeel imitation with maybe a but if tinsel in it to make it sparkle on point, and a smaller plain white pattern on the dropper, with a red tag or a red gill area.

than and again, I have had coalies on pretty much every pattern so it could be irrelevant.

A few years ago i had a load of tiny coalies on a wee orange cats whisker type fly.Not that im an expert but it worked very well....
It would be nice if you could be guaranteed 4-5lb coalies on the fly,the fight would be mental
