Had a crack for them up in Greenore and Carlingford last weekend. Total of zero!

Fri Feb 04, 2005 3:58 pm

how come u hear so much about carlingford and how aare they round at this time of year so far north? i would have thought it would have been the sth west lads who would still have the chance at this time of year

I have to agree with you there Liam. The temp on the east cast is 9C at the moment but 11.5 in the south west. Warmer is better!! -OF Course, there has to be bass in the first place!!!!

Mon Feb 07, 2005 4:08 pm

i think there is a critical point where they will go off the feed, i think it is a temp of 12 degrees but i am not 100%. neil frankish is the man for that kind of info!

Do they starve to death when it's cold?

Mon Feb 07, 2005 5:34 pm

i think they piss off into deeper water, and some reckon that they do in fact go off the feed, in the same way that a good hot sun warming up a beach on an incoming tide will turn them on the feed.

I read somewhere that the critical temp was about 5C - but the mean sea temp seems to be way above that - could it be that the bass stocks are declining even further???
