Works a treat
Nice thing is you can fish them using the reel, so you can fight the fish of the reel.

yes, you can do it and it works a treat for pollack over weed beds. However, make sure you use the lightest lure you can get, while some rubbers lures may seem light in your hand you would be surprised how difficult they can be to cast on a fly rod. I've used 3-4 inch Eddytstone rubber eels on hooks up to size 1 and they've been fine.

Glad to hear you can use the eels lads,
Do you reckon I should use around 12lb fluoro when using an eddystone eel or would you say a lighter leader would work,

Here's the craic, I have been broken twice on 12lb line. I was mostly catching 5lb fish on a day and never thought, but a fish broke me, Granted I wasn't playing him. Because fish up to 5lb you can just let them dive without giving them line, as long as you are not pulling at the same time, your grand.

But if you give a pollock too much line, you will be stuck on the bottom.
Choice is yours, bully the big one into shore with heavy line or.......
