Thanks for that Jim, but do these people cover SWFF, also on the “ Instructors Directory - Full List ” there are 22 names of which 14 are in Northern Ireland, the remaining 8 come from counties Louth, Mayo Cavan, Meath and Waterford.

So there are vast areas of the country unlisted. Apart from Co. Mayo, the West and South West isn’t covered. very strange :shock:

This is a very interesting question - as such to qualify for APGAI as an instructor you must pass the trout or salmon syllabus - there is no SWFF syllabus. However the instruction in casting for trout and salmon are different than that required at sea.

The essentials for good casting tehnique can transfer from an APGAI instructor - loop generation, body position, shooting line, wind etc you will need these and more when at the sea.

glad its useful guy - for more up to date info and techniques etc - take a look at www.probassfisher.com and visit the library or the contents section - regular updates/reports/techniques etc for fly and lure
