Some years ago there was a little seed of an idea that summed up what this website, in its infancy, was all about. The site back then wasn't about an encyclopedic font of knowledge on all things sea fishing, it wasn't even about who had the biggest rod.... It was a place where people could interact, meet up, cultivate friendships in all parts of the isle..... The banter was mighty, the craic was ninety and there was one meet in particular that summed up all that was good about the unlikely marriage of sea angling and the internet! That meet was North V South.....
For those that weren't there, you missed a cracking weekend.... It was a challenge match between Northern users and Southern users on Benone beach that revolved around a weekend of lubrication.... (of the alcoholic variety mind!) I caught my first ever counting fish in a comp that day, a day the wind howled, the rain blew, Mark Beatty had a breakdown after watching me produce a doubler of turbot after heading for an hours kip in the dunes, the South won, Colin Keogh (where are you now mate, who can forget the antics of the Keogh brothers on SAIs travels!) took top honours. Such was its success, with a record attendance (at the time) we vowed to make it an annual thing which for some reason, never transpired.
Well, to hell with all that non bothering nonsense, to hell with the recession and the doom and gloom enveloping our nation in ever tightening shrouds! Lets do something fun where its not so much about the fishing but more about the slagging and the craic.
