Looking at a New Reel, any suggestions?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a multiplier and have done a bit of research. As it's the first time I'll be using one I wondered if anyone had some advice? The 2 I'm looking at are the slosh30 and the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 7000. Are there better options for around the same price range? Thanks

What are you using it for? Both models listed are more at home over seriously rough ground or on the boat TBH.

beach work mainly, some rough some sand. I was looking for an all rounder if possible

Thats easy so. The 525 mag, either the original, super mag or mag extra. Its your only serious contender for mixed fishing. It combines excellent casting performance with some serious winching capabilities. Its comparable to the Sloshes but much easier to cast and not quite as big. If you buy one of these you will not regret it...guaranteed.... :wink:

Will that be an easy option to use for the novice multiplier user like me?!

What your being advised is right...to answer your last question is easy IMHO...start off with either 20lb or 25lb line on the 525Mag until you get used to it.....then drop down to 15lb like most users. This will help you get used to it without birdies....distance will not be as long but, you will get used to it sooner.

Don't forget to have the magnets on full!!!!

Keep your mags on full and your line level about 5 mm from the rounded lip on the spool and you'll be fine :wink: .

I have a few Mag 525's and Abu Mag Elite's, ur welcome to have a try with if youy like?

the 525 supermag is a very slow real with brakes on full- ridiculously slow! should make learning much easier.

all depends on what oil is in them mate ,i use a formula of tournament and yellow rocket fuel and i can tell you the reels can fly.anyone starting off should use stp 30 oil ,low line level and mags on full all the time ,until they get used to the reel after that its a dordle!!!!!cheers john.
