Hi Chris - you've been in Belfast Angling haven't you...???

I've been looking at this rod too and fancy combining it with a FS reel loaded with 50lb low diameter braid straight through. Supposed to be good for beaches/matches because of increased bite detection.

Improved casting distance is also possible with this set up too......

Might just get one soon......

bought one last summer good sport for clean beaches lovely to cast with but struggles with double dogs or a decent fish over mixed ground due to soft action
def. a rod for flatties and whiting on the beach

i have the powerstix in the 13ft and it handles rough ground grand i would agree the 15ft best for clean ground but go 13/14 get best of both

15ft one should be fine for most of your clean beach work.

I'm getting a new rod shortly and this i suppose, is an option (Penn Power Stix 13' F/S). What i really want to know is it much better than my current rod (Sandstorm) or should i stick to my other options which currently are the K2 Red Metal or K2 Titanium?

Greys Triplex also is an option but not sure where i could buy one up here?

hey there livid. I think the powerstix is very similar to the sandstorm. If your goiing for a fixed spool I would gear towards the k2's. I know a couple of people use them and would swear by them.

I have the powerstix. I'm going out fishing tomorrow sometime and you can a blast with mine. Its a fixed spool.

Cheers mate, thanks for the offer but not sure i'll be out anywhere tomorrow, maybe i'll have a go in the future. Visited a few tackle shops today looking for rods, came away with nothing (unlike me as i usually buy on impulse). Going to bide my time on a new rod, i am thinking towards getting a K2 though.

(had my first few throws of a multiplier tonight, MAYBE this time next year i'll be fully capable and ready to buy a suitable setup   )
