AA Beach 13'

Has anyone used the the anyfish anywhere beach 13'. How does it fish in big tides and mixed ground with decent fish.

I'm looking for an alternative to the big beach as I feel it may be to long

for mixed ground i would suggest that the big beach would be required....

the rock rod maybe shorter in length...

Hi Phil,

I currently have a penn sidewinder which is fine for mixed ground work I do and was advised by veals that the 13' beach is slightly stiffer and it works well in the bristol channel which is similiar to the Estuary. I had been thinking of the big beach but the advise from a very good source was at 14 foot pendulumn casting would be a pain on anything but the flatest of grounds. He highly rated the big beach but said the best use would be using something like a brighton OTG but I've never got on with OTG casting for fishing. I think the advantage the beach would have over the rock rod would I could use it on clean ground at distance. I could probably do with a stiffer rod but for the moment an all rounder would probably be best.

Thanks for the advise

if it is for rays and huss etc in the estuary, give julian shambrook himself a call at anyfishanywhere....he has fished the area before and will know what rod will best suit your requirements in the range and what the capabilities etc are of each...

I talked to Julian and he said there the 13' beach rod would be suitable for the Estuary and there should be no problems bringing in good rays and huss. He said the big beach would still be very easy to use even at the 14 foot for pendulumn casting. The 13 foot is more steely in the tip than the big beach which would have better bite detection and the big beach have more of its power in the butt. From that I'm going to order the 13 foot from veals in the next few days.

Thanks phil for the advise.

good to hear you got sorted anyhow! i have seen the big beach, rock, estuary, match, surf, but so far not the beach! sounds like a nicely put together weapon alrite!

a few guys up here have bought the big beach and using it on the tournament field as far as i know, not an all out tournie rod of course but they say they are getting great distance out of them.

good luck with the new purchase anyhow donagh! :P

Hi Donagh,

Just bought a 13' beach today. I'd be interested to see how you get on with yours. Please put a post up as soon as you've given it a good workout.

I'll put an update when I've had had a few weeks to get the run of the rod. I wouldn't have much of judge of a rod until I've had a few big fish on it which would probably be the summer time.
