I have the older version of that rod, the AWB129 and the new version is very similar just made with different materials.

The handle is similar in thickness with a Daiwa Supercast, Greys Apollo etc, not as thin as an Aby Suveran SX or Century Tip Tornado.

Action wise, it has a very stiff butt section with a powerful mid section and a soft tip. Bite detection is excellent and any of the rods from this family are highly regarded as match rods.

Have the older version too; the AWB129 which this model replaced. The AWB is unreplaceable in my books I love it!

I've never used the TDXS129PM (would love to for curiosity's sake...) but I remember reading reviews in Sea Angler at the time and I don't think this new model is a replica of the AWB that went before. From what I remember it's stiffer and brisker all round and less forgiving...

This is not based on ANY first hand experience mind!

Hello There, I've been using one for about a year. It casts beautifully with reel up or down. It's also forgiving if you're timing is a little out. The tip is very responsive and you can differeniate between crab plucks and dab farts. It will handle anything that swims our beaches from conger/tope to rockling. It is so good I'm getting another one as a Christmas pressie to mysef so that I can have a matched pair....enough said. :) :)

I used to own an AWT 13M This was a great rod (understatement), but this rod comes very close in some areas and better in others.....Decisions decisions..
