new penn fixed spool

has anyone used the new penn surfmaster reel looking a fixed spool to go with a 14ft rod. and seen this in sea angler for £50

are these to replace the old surfmaster

Hey, yeah i have the surfmaster 850! Used it once and was very impressed with it! It actually helped improve my casting distance i was casting 100yards easily with a 12' shakspeare rod.

I got the 750 about 3 weeks ago and I used it for the first time last weekend and I was very impressed. Matched it my Abu enticer bass rod and was very surprised how far I was lobbing 3oz leads. It's the first fixed spool reel i've bought for a long time. And while it won't convert me from multipliers, it was a joy to fish with. I'd give it at least 9/10

To be fair I think any PENN tackle whether it be a rod or reel is good value for money. Those new fixed spools for the money I would feel they are unbeatable value. Rinsed after every outing and they should last for years 8)
