Grey's Triplex 16 footer

Tue Sep 19, 2006 12:25 pm

Petekd was telling me of late that this was a very nice rod, anybody else have one or experience of using it?

Tue Sep 19, 2006 12:27 pm

Think it was a 14 footer (the 5oz version) I was using, belonged to Seaniebo. He refused 200 euro for it on the day so that says enough.... :D I picked a new one up on Ebay for £128stg, should arrive today or tomorrow, lovely versatile rod. Was cobbling tackle together on the day as had set out for cancelled Kilmore boat trip. Teamed with a 525 mag loaded with 15lb line it managed to chuck a 1oz leadhead around 70/80 yards, with a 4oz and a string of feathers it headed for the hills....

That'll do me..... :D

I thought you were joking about the 200 yoyos pete! Damn, I could have got me a shiney new shirt and had a proper go at the fossils!

200 sheets for a shiny shirt....must be one like Stevecrows in that infamous pogues pic :D

Seen them before alright at buy it now prices of £230, anything from tackle dealers were all around £209 so, yeah, good deal alright. At least it will be when it arrives in one piece!

I put a post up about a greys rod and somehow Crow's ugly mugg takes the bloody thing over  As for that shirt and the 'matching' brown leather wasitcoat..........I'll have to get a look at the 14 foot rod in the north south match then

the triplex are a cracking range in my opinion, i have the 16ft 6oz version , i think seanibo's was the 14ft 5 oz version, they also have one out now the sl, it is for 4oz

you should be able to pick them up at a good price these days, in and around £200 for the 16ft one which is dearest

Are you just using it for beach fishing Phil or could it be used over mixed ground also?

Thu Sep 21, 2006 10:27 am

14' 5oz is a slim, very "tippy" rod with bags of power lower down if that helps anyone.

Thu Sep 21, 2006 6:20 pm

16ft is mainly for all aspects of fishing on the beach, though i have used it on mixed ground, but tend to use my supro for it. got both from a local dealer.
