Has anybody used their rods or reels or have any opinion on the overall quality of the tackle? I was thinking of adding one of their long rods to the beachcaster rack....

I have a Tektron and a TC surfcast. Neither are anyway cheap, the Tektron came in at €250 and I picked up the TC on Ebay for €200 or so unused. Ill let you have a look and chuck with them at the weekend if you like. Both are 14 footers but are totally different, The Tektron is a fabulous rod, rated for casting up to 8 oz. I used this all winter off the wall at Monkstown horsing up to 7 oz of lead and a big bait looking for cod. Casting with a simple overhead style sent the baits hammering away, there is a huge amount of backbone in this rod but it doesnt compromise bite detection either. The TC surfcast is a multi tip match rod that retails over here for up to €450, I have only used it on a handful of occasions and in my opinion it would be best suited to scratching out small fish on clean beaches.

Sure have a nosey at the weekend, I cant fault either of them. A buddy of mine had a problem with his, broke the tip of it but I think there is a 3 year warranty on them so it was replaced with no hassle. They are things of beauty and do attract a lot of attention on a beach! Very well finished product, fuji rings and reel seats etc.

I would be the buddy Pete was referring to  Had the Tekron now nearly a year and love it. I'd echo everything Pete says. Yes, I had a problem with the tip snapping but they have a five year warranty and had it replaced no problem. Could well have been down to my dodgy casting technique as much as anything :)

I recently teamed it up with a Grauvell Zeus Z5000. Cost me €120 but it is a cracking big surf reel. 14 ball bearings and 3 aluminium spools. I have braid on one and it really allows me to belt out a 150g lead. It also has serious cranking power but not too heavy. This was a replacement for a Shimano Aerlex XS8000. No comparison between the two.
