Use a couple of Mitchell reels i got from flyingtackle in portrush on various beachcasters i have and they are a great fixed spool reel. Would recommend them to anyone. They are the Mitchell MC7000 and cost about £28 each.

I have a mitchell 300x, quartz and avocet. Great wee reels but tend to use them soley for fresh water. Never had a problem with any reels from the Mitchell stable.

I have a Mitchell 300X that I loaded with braid and use for saltwater spinning, it's a great job. had it a few years and no bother with it at all. the braid really does help when spinning or lead-heading from the shore over rocks.

Was using an Avocet loaded with braid for spinning, used a handful of times, 4 or 5 and all the bearings siezed.... It never got a ducking, indeed only time it got wet was when rinsing under the tap. I wont be buying another.

On the plus side, I have a Garcia Mitchell 640 (I think) boat multiplier reel that I inherited off my dad, its still going strong and pulling in fish after best part of 40 years which is kind of nice.
