Veals does it again!

Wed Jul 26, 2006 12:01 am

I placed an order with Veals at around 1pm yesterday and opted for next day delivery (£6.95) even though the Veals site stated that next day delivery was only available for orders placed before midday. I ordered a Shimano Exage 9ft mini telescopic rod (for holidays), a Berkely line spooler & stripper and quite a few bits and pieces for making rigs.

The order was delivered early this morning by courier! Incredible service, plus 5% off as I ordered from the Veals online Members' catalogue.

Veals appear to have dropped the surcharge for delivery to N. Ireland and delivery is the same as to England, Scotland and Wales.

Thoroughly recommend them!

Remember, with Veals if you spend over £100 on internet orders (over several transactions not just one), you become eligible, on application to Veals) for a Member's discount of 5%, which on large orders could save you the cost of postage.

If you can club together with a few fishing friends to place an internet order you can share the cost of postage and get the membership deal.

Details of members discounts at link below:

Ordered 4 weeks ago today from Mactackle, and not a Dickybird.

I checked out CrabRock. Very good prices and reasonable postage rate. Limited stock though, so I'll wait until stock increases before putting in a mixed order.

One to watch!

They are good and deliver on time. .... unlike mcgsuperwell who sells the Diawa Longbeam 16' on e-bay. He blames the Royal Mail. I would advise nobody to deal with him.

If you're interested in the member's discount, I think you need to keep records of your own purchases. The process isn't automatic.

when getting anything through he post i always check the postal frank mark..

gives a good indication of when it was actually sent..
most of the online stores have sent that same day or the next day but there have been a few that have taken liberties by sending them 3-5 days after the order has been made..
a quick e-mail wondering why it has taken so long catches them out when they say they sent it the day the order was received.. 8) 8)

A word in fairness to some of the smaller mail order companies or companies that offer the service of mail order even though its not their first method of business.

Some dispatch only 2 or 3 times a week, but do it without fail, the reason may be that their business is a long way from a post office and to drive 5 or more miles with only 1 or 2 small items isn't economical.

You have to be a good size business and have a very good mail order turnover to have the backing of the couriers like Veals have, and the next day delivery if not asked for and charged extra for is a little bit of a fluke too......the van must call late..say 4pm or 5pm instead of say 2pm as most couriers state any next day must be picked up before 2pm.

Fair play to any mail order comapny that can keep their service so sharp, it doesnt happen by accident thats for sure.
