i aint got any paddy! i was just checking to see what they were like for certain aplications, as im on the look out for a casting/rough ground rod all in one but just wondered what the differences were between the std and plus, and also between the 13 and 14ft versions in both

Thu May 25, 2006 7:48 pm

both versions are 14 ft..

where do u fish for tope cono?

Fri May 26, 2006 1:44 pm

I thought i heard there is a 6oz version in 13ft, not 100% sure..
there very slim, 26mm butt, 822 gms, more a mid action than tip, i only put 7 rings plus tip as apossed to the factory finish of ten rings plus tip wich has given it a much faster recovery speed. I also had them make me up a softer butt for lighter leads, its got 25mm butt, just over 1.5oz lighter and its sweet it really allows a perfect flow of power on the light leads.
Ive not yet cast the 7oz version yet but from what stephen at conoflex tells me its off the same mandril (13/16) and just got higher carbon content, in turn a stiffer beefed up 6oz rod he also mentioned that the 6oz rod was casting bigger distances...!! There is also an Anubis Tournament on the way were trying one out at the moment...
Hope this helps you.

I've been lucky enough to have a Throw with an Anubis, Feels Very Light and Streamlined, It strikes me as 'Fishing' Rod, as Opposed to a big hitting Casting Rod, I enjoyed my casts with it.

hey drew,
was that sean,s anubis?? yeah, it does not really have the feel of a tournament rod as in its not a stiff as a poker more of a progressive action, but from what ive heard back from a few guys in the uksf they are doing very well with it, i really like this rod from the min i picked it up. Should see you up at the next UCC meet.

Cheers Paddy

Yes Paddy, It was Seans, Very Progressive Action casting with with a Blue 6500 on it, If I had a Spare £325 I'd have one for general Clean/Mixed ground fishing.

See you soon mate

i have the 6oz version and i have to say it is a dream to cast, its not as stiff as i first imagined, and i would be interested in having a look at the 7oz version.

well the Anubis Tournament arrived and "is" all its cracked up to be and some,,,Conoflex have got it just about perfect !! what a sweet rod at 14ft1 or 15ft2 with reducer, a 30m butt with a stiffer progressive actioned tip to those of the 6 and 7oz versions, with plenty of mid section to butt power on offer and a nice fast recovering tip, it will handle everything from 125g right up to 200g but favours the 150g in my opinion, all in all its looking like this will very quickly become a conoflex classic, get it right and the lead goes miles but get it wrong it will deff let you know it. This rod has already done high 280,s and should be capable of the magic 300yards
(in the right hands,,, if its not too soft,,, right andrew!!)
