Conoflex Twist and Lock Reducer.

Just got this Conoflex Captive Extension for retrieval using the reel low on the Primo Synchro. I've put the reel even lower now and this thing really helps! To extend it, just twist anticlockwise, pull it out and twist it clockwise to lock it.

they look an excellent job alright! seen them same kind of idea on a couple of the conoflex boat rods before, dont know how they would fair with sand though?? :?

If at all possible keep them away from sand, they just get jammed up and then virtualy impossible to remove!!

dont pull them out full distance as this can damage them leading to them breaking .

seen similar built into the greys uptide rod, it actually had a line on it to advise the stopping point when you pulled it out.

they are certainly a brilliant job, much favoured by tournament-
casters, john metcalfe has these fitted to all his rods, at extra cost
off-course, just out of interest how much did you pay for it.

They didn't charge me the VAT coz I'm in Poland, so I got it a bit cheaper. It's great so far! The one I've got is a real tight fit, but if you had to glue it in, use a little hot melt glue, then if you have to remove it, run it under the hot tap for a while to soften the glue and pull it back out again. The same goes for the reel seat if you want to fix it. My sliding reel seat is actually too big for the butt, but it's OK for me as I can slide it down over a strip of inner tube taped to the butt which I use to grip the reel.

I bought a Penn Jetstream recently, it had one of these fitted as standard but I took it off after one session.

Reason being that when using a multiplier reel, there was nothing to use as a grip with your forefinger - just did not feel comfortable....

I bought a set of anyfish anywhere coasters and find these much better.

One benefit I could see from the slide and lock mechanism was that you could cast reel down and then retrieve reel up with ease.

I guess this device is more suited to a FS reel?

How do you find it with a multiplier?

I'm used to using the Fuji reel seets without the trigger grip anyway, so have always used them with a multiplier. I use coasters on my Daiwa, but find that the reel twists round under load. Maybe I don't tighten them up enough, but I'm always frightened of breaking them! I actually wanted one of the Abu grip lock reel seats with the trigger grip, but they sent this one instead, but so far, not a problem.

was looking for a griplok today but they dont do them small enough for my zziplex at 24mm, so instead i went for a standard fugi reel seat, if a small slot is cut out of it and a coaster fitted over it, you can slide the seat and adjust it to wherever you like and the coaster acts as a trigger.
