Suggest a 13-14ft FS Beach Rod

Postby Teegerstk » Sun May 28, 2017 9:34 pm

Hi,
I've decided I'm gonna buy a second beach outfit, and have already decided on getting another Penn Affinity reel. They are great reels and good value for the price.
I'll need a beach rod rung for a fixed spool. I currently have a Penn Squadron 15ft which is way too big for my stature. My casts are quite awkward and honestly I've never casted over say 100 yds with it. It's a low end rod so there's no point in selling it anyway. I have tried out a 13ft rod before and they fit me perfectly.
Can anyone recommend a 13ft Fs beach rod that's around €150 or so? I'll be fishing various grounds, mostly clean. I can push the budget if it's well worth it, but I'm buying the reel at the same time so I'm limited.
Thanks a million
E

Is it good to cast with? Found the Rampage 2 online paired with a Surfblaster for around 200- comes with some braid too.
I'll look up more about it. Thanks
Any other suggestions?

I'm aware that afaw do some top notch rods but I can't really afford something like that atm. €200 would be my limit.
What about the afaw 6 and bait mk2? Found it online paired with a Penn reel. A step down from the GB FS Pro but then again I'm only in the sea fishing game a year and a bit so far.

i can sling a 5 ounce weight out about 100-120 yards easy enough, and i use the surf blaster also on my 16 foot and works perfect. I live around Waterford so if you wanted try it out im sure we could arrange something so you can get the feel of it before you buy one online

Thanks for the offer eddy. I think I might go for the AFAW 6&Bait, done a lot of research on it and it seems like a good rod, I'll most likely replace my
Squadron with a Rampage 13ft by the end of the year as the 15ft is too big for me.
Thanks lads for the help

Would probably look into using braid if bites are a problem - but then again I've seen posts on it on other sites and lads were saying they had no problem seeing bites from whiting etc.
Looks like a real nice rod, can't wait to get it.

I'm using Shakespeare Continental rod 13 rung for FS. Easy to cast, light, slim blank and won't break your wallet haha. Bite detection with braided line is superb. Hope this help.
