Under water video camera? Which one to get?

Fri Jan 06, 2017 11:59 pm

Hello all happy new year.
So as it says I'm thinking of trying to get some video of a few channels and gulleys on low water and I'm wondering if there is any one that has done this and what cameras video recorder player did you use or what one would you recommend. Thanks.

The only one I have heard of is the Water Wolf. To my untrained eye the footage looks very good

Hi Dan, I have a WaterWolf underwater camera which I have used, mainly from the boat but also suspended from a float while shore fishing. I put a couple of samples up in the boat angling section, October 2016 and October 2015. They will give you some idea of the quality you can get. Regards, johnwest

Hi all thanks for the replys. I had a look at the video John. That's what I'm after that type of video so I can see if there is anything following baits and see what's down there. Since I haven't used one before how did you go about fixing it to the main line? And keeping it upright. And for you to watch it back did you have to upload the video on to a laptop or can you watch it back on the camera.? Possibly a few silly questions but if I don't ask I won't know. Thanks again John cookaroo and shortcircuit.

Perfectly good questions Dan, the camera attaches to a metal boom with an eye at each end so you can tie the camera into the rig by one or both eyes, there are weights provided to alter the angle it sits at. I think if you visit the website it gives lots of info. The camera has no screen, it records up to 4 hrs onto a micro sd card which when placed in the adapter, can be slotted into a laptop (and connected to a tv by hdmi lead if you want) to view. Hope this helps, regards, johnwest

Glasgow Angling Centre, £120 sterling. No , not particularly cheap. Might be worth looking at the Tec Plus ,720p camera, it is v. cheap, has a playback screen so you can review on site. Won't go as deep as the waterwolf,(100ft compared to 100m I think). They are around £22-25 sterling, sd card extra. Might have to use a bit of imagination to rig it up.
