Rucksacks??????????

Ive came to a conclusion that a rucksak is better for me than a seat box as i fish alot of spots which are often a mile or more from the road....However i cant decide which one to go for....The three contenders are???

Imax 55 litre rucksack
Mustard Surf Rucksack
Titan 40 litre lucksack

Please make my mind up for me???

Which is rich coming from the man who from tomorrow will need a Ford Transit van just to get his shiny new 16 foot K2 etc to shore meets... :lol:

Its not my gear ....its everyone elses thats the problem

bloody lee brings a full tackle shop with him when we go fishing

I think I'm turning into a tackle tart myself.....bought a 525 mag during the week, in addition to the K2 rod. And the new van has a towbar so I can tow the boat. Which I now have to buy....

These symptoms sound familiar?

On the plus side, I have a genset in the van, so I could actually make fresh, hot bacon butties on the beach. I wonder if there are any single ring electric cookers going cheap on ebay.....

Forgot to mention, van getting roofrack fitted next week - the lads in the garage had fecked up assembling it last weekend so it wouldn't fit unless it went on backwards.

Currently looking at roof pipes. Ought to be handy for the rods, if nothing else. :lol:

And once I get it ply-lined, I'll be able to put up a hanger for my flotation suit. :lol:

I ordered one of those rod bazooka tubes ...... keeps rods safe and deals with pesky jet skiers etc :D

Try a mountaineers rucksack rather than a fishing one.
Expensive but cheaper in the longer run.

A) its better balanced because it has to be...
B) its better made - I've a Lowe Alpamayo which is 30 years strong...
C) it has a soft frame so no metal ribs poking you in the ribs etc.
D) its bigger in fact you can carry a tent, bag etc in it and more...

The only disadvanatge is that there are more drawstrings for watertight compartments and the zips are bigger, but mine have been through hell and back (5500 m -40 c) and there's not a sign of a problem...

20 years ago I designed and made what came to be the first rucksack for sea anglers in the UK, shortly after I designed a larger one, those two rucksacks are still made and sold to this day. Pity the company hasn't moved on with any improvements since then, but that's their business, not mine.

5 years ago I designed another style of box/bag type rucksack, not cheap, but will carry everything an angler needs and more, with all the functions he needs, IMHO they are well thought out, what helps me will do the same for most anglers as I use the same gear as most.

NO rucksack made for any other type of sport can do that IMO, if an angler cant design for anglers and come up with a better more ergonomic solution than a person who doesn't fish, he should be a sorry designer.

The one main problem with a bag or rucksack-v-Box....is that you can sit on a box. I have tried for a long time to find an easy, cheap solution for a bag that you can sit on....always comes out to expensive.

There are more rucksacks on the market than you can count, ranging from a few euros to way up big money, I found that the more you pay the more specialist the rucksack, this doesn't automatically mean that it suits the needs of an angler.

Mustad looks nice. Imax looks a little cumbersome. Titan seems to be a bit too small?
I would go Mustad purely on what I can see. Have read no reviews, etc.

I have the mustad rucksack and cant fault it. :D I used to use an ordinary rucksack bought from an outdoor specialist, supposed to be the dogs swingers. It was!! :oops:

This is were it got ackward: because the ordinary outdoor rucksack was so big and narrow no matter what you needed, it was always found at the bottom for some reason! :? You had to undo zips everywhere and loosen laces/ties to get anywhere with it. :roll: It was a pain.

I then bought the mustad surf sack and haven't looked back. Although it's quite deep, it's broad with plenty of room. Although, don't get carried away with the room as it can become a 2 man job very quickly to get the darn thing on. :lol:

Most have pointed me to get the mustard rucksack....so i have taking its time arriving though :(
