reel repairs - recommendations

Tue Feb 16, 2016 3:23 pm

Hi

I have a bog standard fixed spool with an issue that is stumping me.
I also have an expensive DAIWA multiplier that need a replacement star drag installed.

Anyone nominate someone good in the Connacht area - based on your own experience?

Thanks

Were very lucky in Cork that Murrays shop on Patrick Street have a guy Dave in there brilliant with reels fixing/servicing fly/spinning now he's not in Connacht but if you ever pass this way he's the man.

I know its a bit south of Connacht but I have used a guy in Cappamore, Co. Limerick. First class service and reliable in my experience, with access to any parts required, though its been a few years since I last sent any reels his way since family and other commitments forced a sabbatical from fishing  so I'm not even sure if he is still operating. I normally sent parcel from Donegal via fastway or an post and he did likewise.
I'll pm you his details.

Is that the Dutchman? I've heard that he's good at it.

Just off the phone with Lorris in Clifden, sounds like a lovely chap.. even if he is Welsh and a golfer ! ;0)

He cast for Britain in the past but a back injury put paid to it.
Before he retired, he cast 288 with a 125 gram weight which is just mind blowing, so you never know, I might get a lesson as well...
He's also done over 230 off the ground with a SLOSH... not even a pendulum cast!

Thanks G for the link...
