At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

I recently purchased one of these rods (7'3". 12/40gr) and was just wondering if anybody has any reviews? What type of fish this rod can handle etc.. Any replies would be appreciated as I am a novice when it comes to spinning,
Cheers lads.

Hi mate
Personally I wouldn't buy a rod without a review or advice from a pro.
You can target almost any fish.
The 12:40 is the rating on the lures you be using.
Get to a shop and explain what your targeting and they should give you advice on lures : plugs etc.
prepare yourself to be blown away by the amount of them though.
And remember if your really new to this
Do not spend big you will lose a bit of stuff at first.
And maybe get some good braided line on it
Half fill with flouro and the rest with strong braid. Maybe 18lb daiwa

Cheers for the reply Desie,
I know I just couldn't pass the deal up, it was half price and was looking for a rod to do a bit of spinning. I got it in courtown angling centre and the man there was extremely helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with. He advised me on lures for bass, so picked a few up. All thats left is to give it a bash I suppose. This might be a silly question but what are the winter months like for spinning? I normally associate it with the summer months.

I've never held one of these but they look like a lovely rod, with good quality guides. It will handle ANY fish that will take your lure no worries. Don't try to lift fish with it and you'll be fine. It is quieter in the winter but not completely dead. Its worth fishing slower in terms of retrieval. Best of luck with the lure fishing
Fish away mad

Bass are a hard fish to catch especially in winter months but there still there.
There's loads of fish to get to also.
If you got a good deal from a guy that's fair enough.
Try if you have cash get a shimano 146 lure.
Google it great lure.
Try little bait balls off a float also.
It's a huge learning thing but arise with it you will be rewarded.
Wrap up also mate and stay dry as cold and wet tends to weaken some people to throw the rod back in shed when it's like that.
