Shimano Technium vs Aernos ?

Hi folks,
I'm picking up a Technium sfd 3000 soon. This is my first reel from the c14 range having previously only fished P4 reels specifically the exage and Aernos which I couldn't fault.
Is the Technium a noticable step up in quality and performance from the Aernos ?

Ya I'm happy with them too. Bar one Penn c(R)aptiva ;) and one cheap trabucco for travelling, all of my lure reels up to now have been an assortment of Shimanos

The Technium FD is not a Ci4 reel. The 3000 model is 270g. For a Ci4 model, the weight should be around 200g

Having owned both - no, in my view, there is not a noticeable step up in the Technium. Not knocking them, they are good reels. But the bail arm annoys me! You didnt mean a rarenium which is a ci4?

Daiwa are making some fine lure reels these days, no bail issues, great line lay. Worth a look too. I've switched to Daiwa and couldn't be happier.

No it's a technium alright. I assumed ( incorrectly as it turns out) that the next range up from the P4 were all ci4 . I'm getting the 2014 model technium for less than I paid for my aernos so I said I'd take a punt on it. I've heard about the bail arm issue, is it a big problem? I'm planning to try something new in the spring again so I'll have a feel of the daiwa offerings along with the surecatch unity. I draw the line at €100 for spinning reels so that limits the choices :) cheers for the replies folks.

The FD model has an improved one piece bail arm, plus it comes with x-ship. Go for it.

Cheers for that Rory, thats exactly what i wanted to hear :D Just checked there and its definitely the 2014 3000 SFD with the lighter coloured section at the back of the reel.

Santy might bring me a new rod too ;)
