Ideal beach rod for 'Slosh 20

Hi Lads, I recently purchased a Slosh 20 for a spot of uptiding. Have only returned to sea fishing this year, so .. when it comes to beach' I was always a fixed spool head. Now after reading a bit about the Slosh 20 I am considering adding it to a beach rod for the winter season. Any recommendations? All advice appreciated. Cheers.

Instead of asking for the ideal rod for your reel, ask yourself what your going to use the rod for, and get the ideal rod for you ie rough ground or clean, what weights you need to use on the venues you usually fish, what length rod suits you and your casting style and what your willing to spend.

I will be using the rod ..along the East coast. Greystones, Killoughter, Newcastle etc.. so it safe to say ' mixed ground ' I will be probably targeting cod, pollock, coalies etc. I will more than likley be using 15 lb line and weights will be in the region of 4 to 6oz. I am new to multipliers, so , will slosh 20 be suitable for maybe 14ft rod? My usual casting style was off the ground( found that best with fixed spool ) but interested in trying longer rod and maybe even exploring pendullum casting ( sure I spelt that wrong lol ) So basically.... is a slosh 20 capable enough for a 14ft rod, and if so.. which one? Cost wise... I'd pay bout 250 euro for good one. Cheers.

a slosh 20 is perfect on a 13,14ft rod or bigger if wanted but id stick to 13-14ft max, they are a great fishing reel and very smooth,you have a nice budget but if i was you id be looking into a century carbon metal crest should pick 1 up for around the 150 mark second hand they are a great all round user friendly rod,you will have your pick of most top second hand rods with your budget

the slosh 20 comes with the red and white brake blocks if only learning maybe put the 2 red in as there bigger and slow the reel down more and as you get use to it put the 2 white blocks in or even 1 white block when you have it mastered and it will fly

Thanks. I fitted the red ones only last night. Pure guesswork on my behalf. I'll stick with those so !......... now... to try and find a second hand Century.

I wouldn't get hung up on finding a century carbon metal crest, good rod but a seriously stiff action comparable to the century ttr which is a total beast. For east coast fishing a rod with a softish tip is the way forward I think, but still with a bit of grunt in the butt to get into as your casting ability progresses. I would go into a good tackle shop and have a good look at your options before going out and buying something you mightn't like or won't suit you just on the suggestions of others.

True, true, it does give me somewhere to start though. I'll have a scout around to see whats out there.
