Sea Fishing Floats

Fri Mar 09, 2012 3:21 pm

Looking to pick up some proper big sea floats, have tried few irish online sites and uk ones plus local tackle shops and can't find the proper donkey floats - lookin for ones to carry one and two ounce ball leads plus bait. Only seeing smaller stuff and shitty polystyrene ones. Anybody be fit to help me out :?:

Bigger than 8"?
Dennetts have a good selection. Their 8" is a big float. It would take 2 drilled balls to cock them. I have actually used them as an experiment shark fishing.

The ones I have are L119 on page 43

Any shop that deals with them should be able to order them for you

Aye id wrote that and then realised it sounded...eh....a bit odd
Petey the idea is deep water floaty stuff, want something thats got enough buoyoancy to carry at least at least an ounce ball lead and bait and be plenty visible too. Smaller floats just dissapear in even the faintest of swell. Have a few marks that should have good pollock but there deep as feck and have found that float fished mac backstrap or belly can sort out da bigger ones. Oh yeah plus i wanted something to measure the snake against 8)

hi pete, if you want visibility in the swell, the standard item is a balloon, possibly partly inflated? The ubiquitous red and
white plastic floats will float 2oz of lead, they wont be as visible though

Some of the large tackle shops should carry the shakesphere 50g floats.... Should be enough :?: Failing that try one or two of the coarse outlets over here or in the UK. They will carry a float for French Catfish fishing.... It will hold quite a bit of weight as it's for holding up live Tench and Carp
