6500 C3CT Mags

I have a couple of these reels. One, the much older one is the original green reel, and the other which although i have had for a few years, has seen little use, and has spent most of its time being nice and shiney. It is one of the limited editions and is orange/amber. Although these are meant to be the same reel the orange one has a few design changes with an easily removable spindle. I am sure the reel enthusiasts will know what i mean. Anyway i decided to give the orange one a bit of a run out on my recent trip to Kerry only to discover it made the most almighty whine on the cast. Closer inspection revealed the cause to be all the magnets corroded and crumbling. Opened up the much older original green reel and the magnets are like the day i bought the reel. I am not one for opening and tinkering with my reels so it is not that they were treated differently. If they work, they all get the same treatment, a quick rinse in tap water after an outing and left to dry. Has anyone else seen the magnets in one of these reels corrode and does anyone local service/replace them. It certainly seems to me the components in these 2 reels are of a totally different quality.

never seen rusty magnets :?: i wonder was it rinsed and left to dry lying on its side ?i would open up my multies every 6 months clean then oil and grease them ,this will ensure long life ,not using a reel for a long time is ok if you open it clean it and grease and oil it otherwise things corrode ,rinsing under fresh water can force salt and grime right into the reel so the outside will look great but the inside will suffer .
you can get all the parts you need on ebay second hand or new !
