garfish sliding trace

could anyone help mewith the rig when youre fishing the bottom with two hooks but then at the top with a float?
i was told firstly put on a bead then the float and then a small boom with the snood and then the normal trace would this be right?

The boom and snood need to be above the float. Works on the principle that when the main rig is anchored on the sea bed the float will slide back up the line as far as the shock leader knot.

Poly balls or foam balls also work in place of the float.
