Anyfish Anywhere tournament rough ground

Sat Apr 02, 2011 10:55 am

I was thinking of looking at getting a rough ground rod. This might be a bit long to swing for the rock marks I'd be near but I like the AA rods.

Has anyone used this rod and reviews?
Any other suggestions.

I'll look into them but I can't find much info on them

I should of said I fish reel down especially with 535/SL30 reels as I find it difficult to even over head thump with their size. I think a 13 foot rod would be a minimium as I'd need to mount the reel a foot from the butt. The conoflex anubis 6 oz looks a lovely rod but I've only seen it being used and not had a cast or fished with it. Again at 14 foot it might be hard to cast on some marks.

The Ron Thompson Axellerator is a good option and great value.

I don't think I'd spend the money on the Anubis or AA rough ground unless I was replacing my two AA big beachs. I'm really just eyeing up rods to see what I'd like if I got the chance to ask someone for a cast at a comp or if they came up cheap second hand. I'm currently using my AA beach for that which is good as it's not tippy but a stiffer rod might be a better option for the really really rough stuff. The RT axcellerator would really be the ideal choice as I'd only be using it a few times a year if I could get it for the right price .

I think they are around between the £100-115 mark. Might be able to pick up a second hand one somewhere.

Like yourself I use the AA big beaches for most stuff, I believe they are a very under-rated rod especially by those who need to have the right logo on their rods. For the nastier stuff I have a Nemisis Slr which is really nice to fish with but has a bit more backbone. If I bump into you one day you can use it and see what you think.

the nemisis diablo would be another option, for the likes of coalhill

Ian Golds Extractor another one worth looking at. Incredible rod plenty of backbone and a pleasure to use, highly recommend it!!!

if space is tight why use a 13ft rot with low reel ??? 12 ft rod high reel is more user friendly ,

When I first started on a multi I went to Steve Gillet for instruction and ever since I've used Multi low except for bass fishing with smaller multis. I find it difficult to cast 535s or SL30s high on the rod. Just lack of skill and what I'm used to I suppose. I don't find bring big fish in reel low difficult once the reel butt doesn't slip and make my voice high pitched. From talking to others it would be more of an issue if I was catch fish that take line such as tope.

@Kstaff
extractor has been recommended sounds like a fine rod but I have two AA big beachs which would be a similiar class rod. Want an out and out rock rod for 30/40lb line loose every rig kind of ground

@Baitdigger
When your back up on your feet I hope to hit the north clare marks with Neilus over the summer.

@Gearoid
You'll have to show me a way through the woods for coalhill. It's a killer getting back from there with the tide up

Have you got a machete? and a flare for when you get lost...the shore is the only way, least your box will be lighter on the way back when you losee all your leads.
