hi guys,
right here goes, i'm having to change the way i fish due to the fact i've to get 3 operations after xmas so my usual and beloved multi rods are out of the question for possibly 6 months so was i'm lookin for a good light long rod for the beaches and the shakespear salt long surf caught my eye due to it now being £50 sterling in GAC. does any one have any opinions on this rod or any other suggestions. or even the powerstick pro 15ft?

cheers Jonny

hi jonny. i've been using one for a few months now and they are a great piece of kit for the cash. capable of pulling in doggie doubles on rough ground marks and equally adapt for clean beach flounder fishing. the eyes are a nice size that your shockleader knot won't catch them while casting or reeling in something with a bit of weight to it. the only 2 flaws i can find with them are those stupid ceramic eye inserts and the bite detection. a bite will register on the top 18 inches of the rod where as i like something a bit more tippy that that only registers on the top 10 inches or so. but to be honest thats just me being fussy and picky       . most rods now come with ceramic eyes as standard and to be fair, like i said my own personal prefrence for bit detection would a bit more tippy, but it still easily registers a 15cm flounder bite at 100 yards. so i suppose it's only me being fussy  . we'll be down in carrick next thursday afternoon for a bit, so if you want to try before you buy. i can bring the rod with us and meet you down at the pier if you fancy giving it a chuck man :)
all the best and happy crimbo man.
