you wont get a rod that you can use for both beach and spinning... a beachcaster will be 12ft or longer capable of casting big baits and leads and for a starter version should set you back about 60 quid or so.. while a spinning rod is a light rod used with one hand about 8 foot and you should pick a basic one up for about 50 quid... and again you.ll need 2 different fixed spools to match both they can be picked up for next to nothing but again you get what you pay for

what might suite both applications would be an estuary rod or lite bass rod think the shakespeare tidewater is a fairly cheap start off version shouldnt set you back more than 50 euros and theres plenty of reels going for 20 -30 euros to match it but your arm will hang off if your spinning for ages. in the long run your probably better off getting a dedicated set up for each type of fishing though :D

I agree with seanie, a bass rod and a 3500 size reel, will cover you on both but you willl probably only be able to use 3 or max 4 ozs with it, shakespere salt are a good quality bit of kit at the right money
