first multiplier reel

Hi lads looking for a first Multiplier to learn with could anyone recommend a decent start off reel to learn with so iam not spending my days unraveling line

The old green mag elites are probably your best bet as they combine manual, centrifugal and magnetic braking. Search for Abu 6500 CT Mag elite. Very docile once set up and a great place to start. There are better multipliers out there, before someone else rows in, but in terms of a place to start, these take some beating.

agree, two of the best reels to learn on, started on the black 7ht myself

go wrong with one of these.

True, dont the Florida Orange Mag elites incorporate a more extensive centrifugal braking system that allows you to select how many blocks you need at a time by sliding them off one of the prongs. I have one in the garage somewhere. Decent choice also.

Slider on left hand side plate allows you to adjust brake blocks between 1 and 6, even mid cast, adjust until you find your speed, virtually birds nest proof, great reels, get down to that garage!!!

only the new abu mags have the 6 break block ring, the older mag green and orange are the same

You didn't say what you wanted to use it for? Penn 525mag gets my vote, good alround reel, easy to control.

For a multiplyer virgin ive heard alot of people mention the green 6500ct mag elite and the daiwa 7ht is that the black one or the blue millionaire one?Like mayorga its for shore use

I wouldnt spend the money on the blue ir red 7HT at the start. The black one will serve you well and is a great first multi. I have one around 8 years now and still going strong.
Its a great clean ground reel.

Cheers for that il have to get one of them. i seen the black 7ht is only 98 pounds on veals that would be a good place to start

if you go for a all round reel then the 525 is best and in order to help control it put thicker/heavier line on it, 20lb should do and your best to underfill the spool until you are confident enough

with every tackle tart on the beach wanting a new 7ht mag (the blue one)alot of good abu,s are being put up for sale 70 yo yos will get you a good clean reel ,keep an eye on the for sale section but dont dilly dally as they normally go quick

If your going to buy a new reel try one form the Akios range, IMO the best multi on the market for the price, and very easy to control.
