century tip tornado ld

I picked up this rod as I wanted something lighter than the pair of conoflex rods I have for heavier work.

first impressions were good, the rod is aesthetically pleasing and well built. everything was nice and tight at the joint and remains so after a couple of sessions. the reel seat works well and is a nice touch but ultimately may be down to a matter of personal preference.

the real beauty of this rod is of course the low diameter - honestly, it feels like a bass rod every time you pick it up. the top third flexes nicely and gives excellent bite detection but the is still plenty of backbone in the butt to deal with a lump of weed or heavier fish.

it casts smoothly and even when your hands are greasy and wet its still easy to grip because of the low diameter and the rubber coated butt section.

for me the rod covers a broad spectrum from very light beach work all the way up to heavier duties, which to be honest i didnt really expect it to do. i honestly think if i could only ever have one rod for all situations that this would be it...

(ill update this again after a few more sessions)

Robert
I have to agree, these rods are all rounders and very light to use, picked up a second of these a couple of weeks back, so far I have no complaints and have used them from light to rough ground. For Really rough ground I use a Century CMC as this has some backbone and hauling power.

Bob, how much does this rod weigh approx? I have a TTSM at the moment which isn't lightweight so I'm curious, Century's site doesn't mention the weight of the rods.

tbh its not a massive amount lighter than a standard 13 ft beachcaster but the balance and slim profile of the rod are what makes it easy to hold. i used it the other night out bass fishing and held it for 2 hours comfortably with no problems.
