multiplier on a fixed spool hellbender surf

well ive got a abu hellbender surf 15" and i was wandering if i bought a multiplier would it go on this rod and would it perform the same way as if i had a multiplier rod. its just money is tight at the min but i want to change from a fixed spool reel to a multiplier. i was thinkin of buying the abu 6500C3 CT mag hi speed.

what fixed spool reel do you have.

ive a penn surfmaster 750

i wouldn pick an abu hi speed for your first multiplier as they can be lively and hard to control... id go for a penn 525 mag or 7ht mag...
