hi guys i was looking for some advice, the shops seem to favour their own perticular product and ive not much experience, ive just started fishing off the beach and have just been given a 16ft beachcaster ive only around 40 or 50 euros for a reel to get it fishing i will hopefully be using this for longer distance casting as my other rod is a 13ft daiwa meanstreak. i prefer fixed spool type if thats correct?? any advice would be appreciated

what rod is the 16 footer?more than likely its rung for fixed spool but some can take a multiplier ,for long range work a fixed spool with braid and mono shockleader would give you great bite detection 8)

yes thats correct its a mitchell surf 16.6 beachcaster and it has big rings and a screw up type reel holder, so fixed spool type i guess, any reel sugestions?? or are all the reels around 50 euros going to be the same i bought a grauvell ex 70 for the 13ft one it seems fine but only used it 3 times. 8)

a shimano would be my choice but not to your budget if your spending 50 yo yos i supose the grauvell would be ok you might pick up a second hand one even cheaper of a better reel for the same money ,just be carefull as most fixedspool reels can be hacked in a very short period of time and still look a ok even when the gears are stripped  was it the grauvell century ex 7000 you got for your other rod?
