does anyone use a vest waistcoat while wading and lurefishing/flyfishin in the salt. thinking of getting one and would like one no metal parts and quite high fitting with large chest pockets, large enough to get a lure box into.

the fishpond gear is class but is built for freshwater in that they all have metal components. might get one for the lakes.

Hi I agree all flyvests do not particularly last in a harsh saltwater environment. I've used a few over the years whilest flyfishing and lure fishing in saltwater and finally have settled on a Sakura Koa Rucksack for long hauls and a largeish lowe alping bumbag which hangs around my shoulders & back for short sessions. These have proven better to me over the fly vest in saltwater.
Hope this helps.

cheers colin
i have gone off the idea altogether. i just streamline my gear and for lures/flies i use two boxes, one for flies that are clean and dry and have not been used on the day and the other for ones that have. i keep both boxes in my wader chest pocket along with a clippers. all thats left is a spool of line and a long nose pliers with a snips on it both of which i keep in my jacket pocket. since adopting this approach i have not had the need for any other equipment and would recommend it.
