Looking for your opinions, i was looking at an ABU Rocket multiplier reel today, any thoughts on this reel or any recommendations on the ABU range, currently using Slosh20 and Penn 525 mag extra. Never used an ABU, looked like a sweet reel,

All advice welcome

ive used the abu range for about 15 years and they are an excellent reel for clean ground work.. i had the old rocket and found it an excellent reel to use although it was a bit racey.. if your lookin to buy one without mags id reccomend the blue yonder elite as ive have the original blue elite and still use it to this day without doin anything but clean it after sessions an give it an oil change every couple of months an stil has not given me 1 problem to date. If your looking for 1 with mags have a look at the abu sports mag its an excellent reel that wont give you many casting problems and most up to date is the abu hi speed elite which has got mixed reviews although i bought 1 recently and find it excellent as it comes equipt with mags stronger gears and a very useful hi speed 6.1 retrieve. No matter wat 1 you choose they are lovely reels at the top of the food chain...

I agree, i love abu reels myself. I use the 6500 hi-speed and 6500 ct c3 florada orange mag regularly, love them. Very smooth reels and i find them great for casting. Highly recommended in my opinion!

hi conger i recently got myself two abu 6500 c3 ct mag elite's, they are a beautiful reel to cast and like chrisfeeney30 said they are very smooth, and also very easy to clean and service...

Hi Conger,

what ground will you be using them over? The 6500 Abu's while fantastic reels are not suited to rough ground and pulling and dragging. If you want a reel for clean beach fishing the abu is your man! The gunmetal model is currently the best made of the lot, proper parts etc.

Regards.

'taken from abu a reel true story'

'hi my names abu mag elite im really good for casting but when i have to reel in things i tend to brake down and die because my makers made me with cheap brass pinion gears. i used to be a great reel but the manufacturers have taken shortcuts in recent years and as a result i brake down more ften than not'

i started off using abus and casting wise they are your man but ive gone through to many to ever buy another one again. since ive switched over to 7ht's i have had no problems.

If you can get your hands on an ABU 7500 C3 CT then that would do you for any type of ground. A classic but yet to be surpassed :)

Hi Lads

Thanks for the advice on the abu's, we mainly fish clean ground but, there are times that we will be on fairly rough ground, Had never looked at these reels before but spotted one recently and it looked like a very neat reel, want to to match it to a Greys GRX-S beach rod. Have no problems with the daiwa or penn but being a true tackle tart :D :D i think i will give one a go for clean ground work.

Again thanks for all the replies
