Well had a very enjoyable afternoon & evening fishing with my daughter and mate Rocky yesterday using my new Tip Tornado Lite and Super match. I will be doing a full evaluation on all of the new Tip Tornado's that I gave myself as a Christmas present in the coming weeks as I get down to the various fishing locations.
Here is a short clip of Rocky using the Lite matched to his ABU 6500 CT and Ultima Distance line in 0.35mm ( 15 pound ), rig is a simple clip down pulley with whitebait and 2/0 circle hooks finishing the rig . conditions werea strong southerly hitting us straight in the face . Check the weather observation details later confirmed the strength to be 15 to 25 kilometers per hour. Sinker was 125 gram
Rocky was really impressed with the way the rod handled and has now decided to get a few for his own which is good otherwise he would be borrowing mine all the time. The rod is 13' overall in length and rated from 85 to 150 gram plus bait and is spot on with these ratings. the action of the rod is what I would describe as fast in that the tip section is relatively light and has a good flex to show of bites at range from even small fish like the Flathead that we picked up this eveing.
The rod that I am using is the 13'6" Super match which I will write about as a seperate post.
The rods sat well in the rest and were not moved around much by the strong on-shore wind that was present throughout the evening which was good as there is nothing worse than them moving and masking the bites from smaller fish.
Another feature that was appreaciated by Rocky was the adjustable reel seat as he prefers to use the reel in the higer position as apposed to my low mount set up when I am bait fishing and using the tripods either on the beach or areas that require a good casting distance.
Rocky was able to comfortably reach the 100+ meter range with his simple overhead thump style and was very happy with that given the head winds that we had to contend with. The rod is capable of much better distances but given the location and need to fish safely we were not doing any serious pendulum styles. I had evealuated the casting capabilities of this rod whilst in the UK on the river Tyne and it was this that convinced me that the rod would suit the conditions and fish that we encounter down here in Australia.
All in all first practical use of the rod has been excellent and I am very happy with the outfit .
A very happy Rocky in front of the TT Lite, TTLD , Blue Marlin 350/5 and my TTLD and Super Match.
As we don't get a lot of the rods that UK anglers take for granted I an very happy with all on the Century's that I now have and look forward to getting stuck into a lot more fish in the future:clap2:
