**Awesome Rigs**

Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:07 pm

Thats what these babies should be called!!

Some time last week I put a post up asking about split ring rig, Ian from Moonfleet Angling responded and sent me over some of his rigs.
They included;
Split Ring Trace
2 Hook Dropper
3 Hook Portsmouth Loop
2 Hook Flapper.

I have been tying rigs myself for about 3 years, and I thought I was pretty spot on with rig making. These rigs surpass any that I have ever tied. There is no other shop bought rigs I can say that about!! I wouldn't say I was an amatuer at tying rigs as I can tie all of the above with a high degree of success rate.

All of the above rigs come in a winder and are tied with top quality sakuma main body and snood lengths. I think the best thing about the rigs is that they can all be adjust with ease, because of the smart silcone sliding system, if you lose a hook and have to retie all is not lost with the rig, simply readjust with the silcone sliders. The same is true if you want to tie different size hooks.
The 2 hook dropper is awesome.

I got them yesterday so I will be trying them out at the weekend and report back to ya's, but I am very confident that they will catch.

Good piece in Sea Angler this month about these, the proof will indeed be in the catching! :D

Is there a weblink to see what's available?

Cheers.

Yeah it the above website. I gave a ring directly to explain what I wanted from a ring, sound fella. going to order some more rigs at the weekend. even to copy 1 or 2 rigs and adapt to my own uses. The 2 hook dropper is an awesome rig. The icing on the cake for me was the split ring trace he sent me. seems very effective and exactly what I was looking for

Haven't seen them yet but on reports they sound ok! tad expensive though considering i'd carry 100 rigs to a match and mostly 3 hook you could be looking at a fortune in rigs.

I know what ya mean, but they are great for a beginner to copy and adapt to there own beaches they fish. Amazing quality.

Just found this site after an email I recieved.
Thanks for the comments, they do take a while to build, and some may see them as expensive but they are simply not built the way most rigs are. they are there to last and to customise.
round our way, interesting you should mention the dropper because that has this week been responsible for some pretty decent snapper in New Zealand.
One thing I will point out, before I have a look through the site is hook sizes. I had a pretty unhappy customer email me today regarding hook sizes, I hope it gets resolved as he is a member of this site and I enjoy forums from other areas. It needs pointing out that rigs are hooked dup to order with the customer choosing sizes unless I get asked personally for a preference.
anyway, thanks for the feedbackl. Now I am off to look around to see what I can catch over there next year.

Hi Ian,

thanks for taking the time to post on the site you must be busy with those rigs! They do look impressive indeed!

Sea Angling Ireland have a membership of 80+ and over 1000 visitors a day on this site, the tackle review section is one of the most popular and the feedback within can be really good. I do believe your rigs are as good as has been mentioned however it would be great if you could send the club some samples or freebies for our next club comp / meet?

I can assure you they would be used by top class anglers who know their tackle and an honest review given on the site.

You don't ask you don't get!! :D

Best Regards,

Keith.

I do a bit of match fishing myself and I have been using these rigs for 2 comps and once at a beach by myself so far. apart from whiting destroying one of the snoods on the dropper rig they have stood me well. I have caught whiting, flounder, weaver, dab and a turboid on the rigs.
I dont think you will be disappointed. Even if you take some of his ideas and apply them to your own rigs.

I wish I could figure out how to show you the pics of the
snapper's caught in NZ on that dropper rig. Do I have to create HTML code, I can not see where I can attach an image.

scrap that, figured it out. not trying to be clever here, I just seriously like building rigs and love seeing stuff like that caught on them.

i personally wouldnt trust a rig unless i made it myself and who you buy your rigs off wont help you catch if you dont get off your assess and GO fishing :!:
100 rigs  one for each whiting

Its the same as seeing a rig that someone is using on the match seen and is out catching everyone else. Would you give him money for it??? I must admit Ian's rigs helped develop my own rigs further and catch more fish. I also never seen a split ring rig rig until Ian sent me one. I developed his rig into my own 20ft rig so it has all been benefical.

Your spot on about getting out fishing rather than tying rigs. no better time spent
