Long fixed spool beachcaster

I'm thinking of going for a 15 or 16ft beachcaster and was looking at the greys triplex or the sonik sk4. Has anyone any ideas? thinking about the greys because it has the lifetime warranty

Hows things Ronan? It looks like you've been suffering from the same affliction as me recently, the inability to stop buying new gear or Gear Acquisition Syndrome as its more correctly known. I must admit I've had a lot bad GAS myself recently Anyway I was looking at those long rods at the fishing show this year and I saw a few others that might be worth considering, Shakespeare have the K2 range, I think Diawa might do one or two and Grauvell also have a bunch of them. Now I haven't used any of them myself only looked at them on the stand so I'm not sure how they compare but I know a few people on the site use them alright and I think there are a couple of threads on here somewhere about them.

Ian Golds has a new range of rods that will be out in a few weeks... including a 16ft fixed spool rod. These will be worth waiting for and will be very competitively priced... I would definitely advise you to check these out before you decide on which rod to get.

i have the ian golds fx-x, this was replaced by the fx-1 i think, both are beautifull, rods, ideal from scratching to punching out baits into a head wind, true all rounders. havent seen the new range of golds rods apart from the 'international match'.

i bought a 16ft shakespere red metal twin tip a while back, lovely for scratchin with the soft tip ,and very good for distance with the stiff tip and sexy lookin too

I have the new ian golds long rod on trial it's called the super match extra and i can tell you it's one hell of a rod, my young lad used it in the home nations in wales recently with devastating effect he was out casting the pendulum casters by miles with a overhead thump.This rod is very user friendly and can chuck big and small leads with ease no need to learn the pendulum cast.
As labrithfish said it should be hitting the shops soon at a very reasonable price and it has a very good rod bag to boot.

Not looking to go crazy money-wise but looking for something decent. I have a shimano ultegra 5500 that i use with a greys bze but i reckon it would be lost on a bigger rod.

How do these rods break down. Are they in three or four parts????

ive heard some good things about the new ian golds range, i know eric uses an older version and loves it to death, graveull also do some lovely long beachcasters to,
ive also seen a good few guys using the k2 and they love them to bits,

The long ian golds rod the super match extra is a two piece rod equal lengths (less spigots to go wrong) and easy to transport.
Most are three piece and some like holiday rods would be four piece i think the less spigots the better.

I think the reel that you have a the moment would suffice no need to going buying a new reel unless your not happy with your old one, and no it would not be lost on a bigger rod.

The International Match is really sweet, i had mine on the casting court on sunday 150g/243.87 125g/245.40, unbelievable considering its a fishing rod with a great tip..
It will be worth the wait

All of them are great rods and very well finished. They cast very, very long on the sea and on the field also.

Im sure i will take a pair for fishing and one or two for casting.

I love them.

I found that video of them last night on YouTube but I just realised as I posted it that its your video Loboestep. I must say they do look very nice indeed, I was going to pick up a long rod in the next week or two but now I'm thinking I might have to wait a little while longer.
