there was some talk a while back about these hooks, so i was wondering how people are getting on with them. i have been useing them this year for all of my ray fishing and have a few doz; so far, all were got on 3'0 and 4'0 circle hooks, and not one ray was deep hooked, so i'm intrested to hear how anybody else is getting on with them.....

don have used them for rays and dogfish with makerel baits and had the same result all lip hooked ,tried smaller sizes for flounder but its not easy getting worm baits on the circle hooks ,so have gone back to ordinary hooks for the likes of flounder which i off set slightley.john

No, depending on the manufacturer they can vary hugely.

i tried them and like their hooking power. definitely better for the old catch and release. even for flounders. however, baiting up with worm or crab was a nighmare - particularly on some of those -6 degree sessions we did in the winter. i switched to semi-circles, but you lose the point really (ha ha) with those.

for the ole bass fishing recently i switched to ye olde size 1 baitholders - much better baiting up and holding and didn't miss any fish. to be honest i think you can offset the problems with circle hooks a good bit by vigilance, switching to pulleys and so on.

worth trying though.

Ive been using them everytime im going out, and cant fault them, ive deffinatly seem a dramatic decrease in the amount of fish that have been deep hooked, 9 0ut of 10 fish being hooked in the lip. Im really happy with them and i cant fault them even though trying to bait up with worm is 10 times more difficult
