ANyone ever used this stuff? Is it worth buying to tie stops on a line, or would I be as well off using bits of elastic band? Does it bed down into a nice little stop, or is really just a knot?

Its great stuff, knots very nicely. I use it for stop knots and sometimes to make adjustable rigs. Definitely a lot neater than elastic bands. Another handy tip for making adjustable stops is to use float rubbers for coarse fishing, simply thread the line through the float rubber twice and it forms a quick and handy slidable stop, although it isn't as neat as a Powergum knot would be.

It's good stuff alright. A five turn grinner knot pulled very tight and it holds well
Great stuff alright. I'm brutal at tying knots , this link helped me with the powergum stopknot

Yep,
powergum is good stuff. It can also be used between braid and a mono leader to add a bit of stretch if the fish have softish mouths and can then help prevent hooks pulling out.
