not sure about the 182 Chuck. I have a 3 plus that I'll let go for €250.

I have the 128 a 'meagre mortal' compared to that, still it does a great job, would not be without one now, i did have one problem though the antenna unit needed replaced after a couple of years  dont think you will go far wrong with that model though, colour hikes the price up. Whats this price like to what you have been looking at? Good luck!

Have recently purchased a 172C. Slightly smaller screen than 182C but more colours on screen. Delighted with it.

More models than you can shake a stick at - I've just got a Garmin GPSMAP276 - excellent, though if I was doing it again I would get a blank card, the CD and unlock code and download the map to the card. Buying a prepogramed map card doesn't allow you to have the map on your PC

Recently got a laptop, so treated myself to a copy of Maptech Marine's (http://www.maptech.com/water/digitalcha ... %20Ireland) Offshore Navigator Lite for the princely sum of stg?100 - has the chartplotter software and a suite of charts for everthing from Mayo to Belfast Lough - there are 4 different chart suites covering the whole Irish coast. Plugged in my aging Magellan 2000xl (ebay usually has 2nd hand ones pretty cheap ie stg?45) and voila, a chartplotter to die for. Very impressed with the maptech software.
