Mitchell 600 for congering?

Just bought a Mitchell 600 from ebay for 6 quid for shore congering.It seems to be in very good condition,but as i know nothing about boat reels i am wondering if this was a bargain and if it will stand up to a bit of abuse on the rocks?

I have a 602ap which was bought when fishing as a teenager. Nylon spool is shore reel and not suitable for a boat and metal spool has reputation for exploding if used for wrecking. I have the nylon spool which can be cast and is perfect for pier congering as the rachet can be set very light by spool tention and cranking up conger. Reel speed is dictated by spool tention and tumbing. I'm going to get casting it again for rock congering this summer where distance isn't important but with a slow retrieve (3:1) I won't do this with venues with shallow reefs close in.
