Shore Tackle

I've been reading some of the posts up here and have decided to say my bit too for the benefit of anyone thinking of buying gear, especially in the run into Christmas. With any tackle you buy you tend to get what you pay for!!!! Here are some suggestions:

Waders Breathable - you cannot beat Simms g4 pro(simple). After that you are looking at hardy and the good vision ones. As far as boots goes it is much the same. Simms rivershed aquastealth are the best. If you are getting felt soles make sure they are stitched or its a waste of time.
Waders Neoprene - greys apollo. Any other ones I tried leaked in no time
Waders Rubber - don't use these much anymore because your either freezin or sweatin like a .... but they are hard wearing

Rods - plugging - Hardy Marksman, loomis, greys greyflex mk2, and have you seen the new wychwood surespin (great value for money)
Spinning reels - shimano are out on their own here
Shore rods - zziplex, conoflex, greys platinum/triplex, mti are all up there
Shore multipliers - abu 6500 mags, penn supermags, greys g-mag (but its too near the others in price!)
fly rods - hardy zane, guideline lpxe rs, vision gt
fly reels - hardy zane ti (only 5,000 stg), hardy zane, lamson

Fleeces - I like the look of the salt fleece for cold weather
Jacket/smock - greys apollo extreme
Wading Jacket for Plugging - simms (simple as), hardy, vision

Some of this stuff is pretty expensive but it is quality and lasts. Mind you I wasn't that serious about the zane ti as I don't know anyone who owns one!!!

i would replace the g-mag for a daiwa 7th mag,imo best reel on the market.

True. A very good reel. Should have put that one in. Prob could have included the greys sea spin in the spin rods too. The one thing that wrecks my head is lights. I have too many of those things. I have some expensive ones that are crap and some cheaper ones that i like. Prob the best I have is the spelio in the expensive ones.

good post shoreking. however, just for some of the people who aren't loaded i will just add a few more ideas that would be cheaper but still fairly good quality.

Spinning reels - Okuma inteceptor 40.
Shore rods - the daiwa sandstorm and supercast
Multipliers - Daiwa 7ht, abu 6500 ct(standard one)
Fly rod - irish trout rod co. 9' 8/9#
fly reels - irish trout reel co.

all of the above are relatively cheap but very good quality stuff. the irish trout stuff is for freshwater though, so you would need to wash it after every session.

Could maybe 8) add the greys grx and the salt rods to the shore rods for value for money. The fly fishin stuff I'd be nervous about in the salt. redington do one thats not too dear I think. Reels wise I started with a cheapish carbon one with a fairly good drag and was prepared to ditch it wen it started to crumble.
