In my opinion braid is much better in terms of feel,strength and reliability..........drawbacks- knots can be a bitch to remove :cry:

helo conger, braid can be very good for spinning, works best in the lighter breaking strains 10-15lb, any more than that, youre really only defeating the purpose.

Braid is almost essential if you're fishing surface lures and need to impart an action into the lure. Monofilament stretches too much too allow you to keep in contact with the lure. Braid has almost zero stretch.

I would disagree that b/s over 15lbs defeats the purpose of using braid. It's not just a matter of thickness but the other properties of the line too. I regularly use 20lb braid for my bass fishing, with a slightly lighter flourocarbon leader.

If you find you get wind knots with the braid, you might need to invest in a reel with a better line lay system. But see how you go first.

hello conger, just another small tip, when loading youre reel with the
braid , just leave it a couple of millimeters short of being flush with the
spool lip, this will help reduce the wind knots sometimes encountered
using braid, all the best

if you are using a spinning lure buy a few ball bearing swivells they are not cheap but neither is braid!! for plugging , feathering or bait fishing you shouldnt get too much twist in the line i find the thinner braid worse for wind knots and wouldnt use less than 20 on a fixed spool or 30 on a multiplier
