hiro spinning rod

anybody used one of these. looking at getting onew of these for bass. not sure whether to get the jerk bait 10-30 gm casting wt or the popper with a 20-40 grm casting weight. which is more suitable.

Not familiar with the specific rod. I think choosing a lure fishing rod often comes down to personal preference for the style of lure fishing you do and the type of lures you usually fish with.

The majority of my successful bass lures are in the 15-20g range so covering that range well is important. The casting weight on the popper version of the Hiro seems to be 15-40?? If that's the case, and if it casts well at the lower end of the range, that might be the best all-rount option. Also, if it's designed specifically for topwater lures, it should have a faster which would make fishing topwater easier.

the marks i intend to fish are shallow reefs of about 3 feet at lw so relay it would be surface and just sub surface (30-40cm) lures i will be fishing. the 15-40 grm seems to be the best all round comprimise. would also cover some light pollack fishing.

I think so. Especially if you want the option of hitting heavier lures into a stiff breeze. I use a very light (6-20) rod for most of by surface fishing but I use a heavier rod in windier conditions.

Unless you're fishing very light lures the 15-40 seems to be the way to go. I'm guessing that if you're fishing very light, you'd prefer fish a fly anyway

exactly, i think its a bette comprimise alright. the way the winds been for the past 2 seasons its been pretty difficult to fish effectively with fly, especially with most of our marks being w/sw facing and that being our prevailing wind. with this ive decided to bite the bullet and try more plugging..should hopefully have it the end of next week or the start of the following week so will keep you informed.

Neil, have a look at the Mike Ladle 1010pro. A bit pricey, but I got it earlier in the year and its superb! Best investment I've made in a number of years .

had been looking at that alrite pat but the hiro range caught myeye. just that little bit different

lumpy take a look at the shakespear ugly stick spinning rod i have one and used to use it for pollock in the boat and its a great rod and great sport.i have taken pollock to 10lb on it with no trouble at all,think it would make a great bass spinning rod and not that costly either.
