I'm in the market for either a good quality pair of coasters or a reel seat for my old Zippy Federation. Any recommendations?
The Century CM I got came with a movable reel seat, held in place with a single coaster. Feels solid and the coaster is useful when you wrap your finger around it when casting. Not sure if these reel seats are available in a slightly larger diameter - the Federation has a slightly larger diameter than current day blanks :().
Advice & pointers welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi mga,
I find the Abu GripLock reel seats excellent. The trigger grip is made of rubber and feels a little nicer than a coaster and Fugi setup I find.
If you're struggling for extra grip using the reel seat put a little rubber button under the flappy part i.e. the part that clamps down when you screw down the reel seat

apparently the coaster on the century reel seat can have an adverse affect to the rod if put unde to much pressure...ive heard of a rod snap...the abu grip lock is a great seat and so is the fuji reel seat....in retrospect id have went for the abu...i have the fuji on a few rods

replaced coasters on a supercast and got comfy coaster

i put the larger one at the back for grip and the smaller one at the front at an angle, rest hand on when reeling in and stop tearing skin off fingers when casting
or try these options

the breakaway ones will fit any rod, just cut the excess when fitted

Thanks lads. The Abu reel seat looks like a good option, as do the comfy coasters.
Interesting point on the Century reel seat Dave. Thanks for that - hadn't heard 'bout the risk :? . Good to know...

Dave,
Your getting mixed up with the "Talon" reel seat....I have used the same method as Century for years and years without any problems, in fact most of the Geordie boys back home used that method, thats where Century got the idea from.....you will not be able to turn the coaster nut enough by hand to damage the blank....100% certain
