Best Fixed Spool Beach Caster?

I use a Daiwa TDPK 13f that is 14 years old now and i am now looking for a rod that will give me a bit extra in casting performance.

Due to an unfortunate accident years ago I had to stop using a multiplier reel as i could no longer thumb the line on to my reel.

Although the tdpk is an excellent all round rod it has never been able to give me that punch you get with so many multiplier designed rods.

All the dealers give advice on what they think of the rods they sell and they seem objective. But i cant help thinking they may be a bit biased.

So come on all you tackle tarts and tell me whats best.

i recently purchased a penn affinity fixed spool rod 13ft 6' and i find it brillant i'm not a fella that can beat the horizon but i thought it definatly helped me add the yards bite detection is also good cant recommend it highly enough. veals sell em for 119.99£

what kind of ground do you fish over and do you use mono or braid as this would affect the type of rod that would suit you and your fishing if you want extra distance a 14 or 15 footer might help if you use a pendulum cast i find a 13 footer more user freindly. i got a grauvell 3 section 14 footer for fixedspool and like it a lot but wont be selling my multi rods as i find they handle bigger leads better in the winter

and of course the big one is how much money do you want to spend :lol:

Although my communion money has now gone, spent over thirty years ago on my first beachcaster an Essex 12 foot with the bmx grips and a ryoby reel. Bought for the princely sum of £8.00 bought at the first A.G.M of the Semperit sac

I am hoping to spend about E200-250 I have seen rod's on a German web site called "SEACOR" apparently they are a Daiwa made rod for the European market.

I will let you know what I go with in the end an give my report.

Seeing as you're not looking at multipliers and you'd like distance, check out the Grauvell Teknos range of continental style long rods. Marry the rod up with a good fixed spool designed for braid and you won't look back. That combo ticks most of the boxes for me except rough ground work.

I have done a lot of research and I have decided to go for the
(century cm bb).

I have looked at a lot of different shops on line and found the cheapest about £220 stng about €280.

The cheapest I have seen it here in Ireland so far is €360 but that was in Wexford I persume the Dublin shops would be cheaper.

Dose anyone know the price of them in Dub?

check out the zziplex gb3 its a nice fixed spool rod and can cast

One dublin shop has them for 395

WOW over €100 difference to uk :shock:
Icould get a half decent spare or a mid range fs reel for the same online. :?

finally took the plunge and got the century carbon bb

all i can say is wow


only one slight niggle had to buy a different reel seat as the one supplied dose not suit fixed spool use.

well worth the extra few bob and i would not hesitate recommending it to anyone.

for the money i have found the shimano ultegra 1200 xsa to be exellent value for money and an outstanding reel.the shimano aero technium is also a very nice reel but is a hell of a price £270 approx.there are cheaper reels on the market but imho not as good or robust as the above reels.

the shimano big- baitrunner LC, front drag , very robust reel, and has
superb line lay. either with mono or even more importantly if you want
to use braid.
