I invested in an imax floatation suit last month and it is a great suit for keeping out the rough weather very warm but I found the jacket zipper very light for the stick I will be giving it and find I’m constantly aware of the fact that the zip might pop the next time I bend over,
To top it off I had the coat on while having a brake from fishing,
The hood being fairly stiff rubbed on the door frame as I turned my body to get out of the van and
I heard a rip,
Sure enough it had pulled two inch’s of the zip from the collar, now when I say it rubbed off the frame I mean just that,
It hadn’t snagged on anything just touched of the thing, needless to say I was well p+++ed off having to take the hood off and put on a hat in case it ripped more while I was fishing and started to let the rain in,
and now i feel even more paranoid about the main zip on the front of the jacket popping apart during a cast or any other time that I might put a little pressure on it, I’ve only worn it twice,
Has any of you lads had a problem of this sort,
Or was I just born unlucky.

I brought my IMAX back to Henry after the braces ripped out of their holding on the bib and brace, the knee patches were lifting off it, the inside pocket zip on the jacket had bust and there were small slashes all over the knee patches from kneeling on Greystones beach, all in the space of about 10 weeks....not the best build quality ever. I got a sundridge instead, no problems so far with the sundridge.

If there was ever a time when I asked a question and didn’t really want to hear the answer this must be it,
Eoin thanks for taking the time to reply that’s the bad news I didn’t want to hear I will be wearing the suit tonight and if anything else goes wrong I will bring it back to the shop and have a chat,
Happy to hear you got your money back from Henrys I know its not the shops fault but if it’s a case of all the suits being badly made then they must have had a few brought back to them for money back or a credit note,
I would be more then happy with the credit because I rarely go to Kerry without stoping off in Tralee
And spending the bones of €100 in the tackle department very nice people to deal with,
But I have never had to bring anything back to them so I suppose now I will find out how there after sale customer care is handled,
Thanks again man,

It seems to be a 50:50 thing with the IMAX suits, some people are happy with them for years, but others like myself and yourself have atrocious build quality.
I think they're more suited to boat fishing and not up to the rigours of shore and rock.

Been using mine for about a year and the only thing to go was the belt buckle which i broke myself - no leaks , rip, tears, weak points - nothing :D :D :D
must have been lucky (so far)

Ive had the two piece for near a year now and have to say have had no problems, although its always used on the boat.
It keeps me warm and dry, hasnt let me down yet. Will say this their neoprene gloves are a disaster dont waste the money on them.

cant find the receipt for the suit and wont be going to kerry for a few weeks, :(
but i will be needing protection from the weather so it looks like i will be sticking the zip back on with good old Araldite,
so it looks like I'm stuck with the suit,

I don't believe it was a bad batch, search out comments here and on other sites, too many to talk of a bad batch in my opinion.
Lots of people complaining about weak stitching and patches lifting.

After over a year my jacket is in good shape except the pockets that are ripped.(from me sticking hooks knifes and sissors in them)
the trousers are in the bin about six months ago. the straps ripped off the front in about 8 weeks, i stiched them back in using braid for thread and they held after that. The knees ripped and so did the arse then they burst down the seems. from the knees down.
Bought a par of Ski trouser out of Tx-max for £20 and there twice the trousers, still leak tight really warm and they have a inside lining to the knees that grips the inside of the legs to stop waves shooting up the leg.

I have to agree with you,
most people have said they’re not as hardy there made out to be,
And after hearing about the leggings ripping at the arse and knees from Scara and 2 other people that had much the same problem I will be bringing a towel and a change of cloths when I wear the suit next time out,
Thank god the summer is here.
